Throggs Neck VAC is looking for volunteers to support us to provide quality care to our community.

Our volunteer selection process is as follows:

Complete a digital application. Be sure to include an email and phone number for a reference and digitally sign the application.
Operations will then review all applications to make sure they are complete.
Once your application is reviewed, Operations will then conduct a sex offender and reference check plus any additional reviews.
Once the application has been fully reviewed, we will send you an email letting you know the status of your application.
If you are invited to join our corps and come to an orientation, all required training and documents must be submitted prior to the orientation date.
Orientations are run by Operations and the Director of Training and the curriculum accommodates 10 new members at a time.
Certified EMTs will be required to pass a test and show practical and lifting skills prior to moving into an EMT Trainee position.
Members who successfully complete orientation will then be on probation for 90 days.
If you are an experienced EMT currently working full-time for an agency for at least one consecutive year, you may be eligible for advance standing once you are accepted as a member with a letter from your agency verifying your employment.

All members are required to have all of the following prior to starting with Throggs Neck VAC:

Sexual Harassment Training
Bloodborne Pathogen Training (Throggs Neck VAC online course available for $10 or use any online certification course)
Mandated Reporter Certification
Immunization Records including full COVID-19 Vaccination
Physical/Medical Clearance
Copy of State Identification
Copy of any licenses or certification (Driver, CEEVO, CPR, EMT-B, etc.)

EMT/Crew Chief Candidates will also need additional documentation. The list and resources will be provided to you in anticipation of orientation completion. All members who will be on an ambulance must be able to lift at least 125lbs unassisted and up to at least 250 with a second person. CPR certification is required for all members outside of the Board of Directors. Classes provided upon clearance.
